Plain & Fancy, on-line boutique
We met up virtually with entrepreneur Melissa Mallone, owner of Plain & Fancy, an online retail boutique and mother to two daughters! Melissa worked at Nine West Corporate and BCBG Corporate and was a buyer for a clothing company in Manhattan. After lots of travel and working long hours she decided to leave the industry. But she never stopped loving fashion!
In March of 2020 Melissa, launched Plain & Fancy, which features must-have tops and dresses, trendy women’s jewelry and accessories and cute masks for kids and adults!

We asked Melissa what is unique about her business:
“I love to make people feel special and I love styling women and helping them get out of their comfort zone. I want to select items that are different and unique!” And her website features exactly that, unique, different and beautiful!
On the Plain & Fancy website Melissa states, “My style proclaims the love for date nights with my hubby, girls night out or just relaxing at home with my plain and fancy daughters (hence the name).”

Fun fact: Melissa’s father, Antonio Vara, was a tailor so Melissa was always around clothes her entire life! His talents were endless and he was a perfectionist. He made a bullet-proof raincoat for President George Bush, Sr! Melissa states she definitely got her passion from her dad, and we believe she got his talents too!
